Risk is Our Business!

One of the things God has been teaching me is how desperately important it is for me to stay open to whatever he would lead me to do. And not just the big decisions in life, but in the tiny decision as well, in how talk to people, or in what I say. If God is guiding me to say or do something that is uncomfortable for me, I want to be completely ready and willing to do it. Even if it seems like a bad idea to everyone else, or the type of thing that people might think is incredibly foolish. I've committed my life to Christ, in everything I do I want to give Him glory and to do that means I can't always be comfortable in the process. There are times when there's a great amount of risk involved!

Going out of control

At Eastman Chemical Company where I'm working right now they use "process control". This basically involves taking measurements and readings on certain processes throughout the plant and recording them. There are strict guidelines that the process has to follow. If one of the readings shows a trend of going too high or too low that process is said to be "Out of Control". And I was thinking, if I were a pastor this might make a good sermon illustration. Am I willing as a Christian to go out of control for Christ. Am I willing to do something so insane, so radical that everyone would think I was crazy? I think sometimes it's hard to let go of things that provide security and a feeling of being safe. But following God is anything but safe and secure, at least in the way that the world defines it. I can only be truly safe and secure if I'm trusting completely in God to hold me up. And it's my prayer that God will be glorified and lifted up in the decisions that I make in the future and today.
