Thoughts on My First Year Freelance Web Designing

Life, Love & Happiness

I've been thinking a lot recently about my life, happiness, and yes, that mushy topic we all love.... love. I'm rather secluded being a freelancer. I've always been somewhat of an introvert. For the most part, I like to keep to myself. And I feel I've been able to really refine my craft as a result, It's also given me more time to focus on my relationship with God.

ToySight Gold - It's in the hands

Lastnight I ran across a game that's been out for a few years now, and it actually won an Apple Design Award for Most Innovative Mac OS X Product, but I had never seen it before. It's called ToySight Gold by Freeverse - it lets you use your hands to control elements on the screen using gestures caught with the iSight in the computer. When I saw it I was initially reminded of that scene in Minority Report of Tom Cruise controlling holographic elements with his hands.

Decisions, Decisions

I've got a co-op position at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company (Eastman). Well recently my supervisor (a really nice guy) has been after me to know what my long term goals are for the rest of my life. My co-op term ends in a month and he basically told me yesterday that he needs to know what my plans are so he can get the ball rolling on finding me a job there, if that's what I want. There's no guarantee for a job, but he still needs to know if I'm interested before I'll even be offered a job. I told him that I'm trying to pursue a full time career in the field of web design and development, and that's what I planned on doing over the summer. But he doesn't seem to understand why. I'm not sure how to tell him flat out in a polite way, "No, I don't ever want to work here".
